Fixed braces

What are fixed braces?

In additional to offering near invisible braces, we offer traditional braces at Wootton Bridge Dental & Implant Clinic.

Fixed braces straighten teeth using a combination of metal brackets and wires. Our Wootton Bridge dentist will attach a small square bracket to the front of each tooth and connect them using a thin archwire. This wire gradually aligns your brackets and teeth into the perfect position.

How long with treatment take?

Every 6–10 weeks we’ll arrange a check-up to review your progress and adjust your braces. This involves changing your archwire, which is attached to your brackets by small elastic bands.

The length of treatment can vary depending on the complexity of each case. Our dentist will ensure a tailored and individual treatment plan is created, to clearly explain the recommended treatment course.

At the end of your treatment, we’ll give you retainers to ensure your smile remains in its new straight position. We offer a range of bonded or removable trainers.

What are the benefits of fixed braces?

There’s more than one reason why fixed braces have stood the test of time:

  • They’re effective. They’re great at moving teeth to exactly where you want them.
  • They’re versatile. They can help with anything from simple crowding to significant spacing.
  • They’re affordable. For many patients they provide a cost-effective alternative to invisible braces.
  • They’re discreet. We can disguise your fixed braces with subtle clear brackets.
